First partner meeting in Gabrovo (Project NONA)

From March 11 to 13, 2024, Gabrovo was the venue for the meeting of the international consortium of the NONA project, financed by the EU under the Interreg "Danube Region" program 2021-2027. More than 25 participants arrived on-site to participate in the event, and others joined online during the presentations and discussion panels.

The purpose of the meeting was to allow the partners to get to know each other and consolidate their understanding of the project, green investment, and revitalisation of degraded areas.

On the second day of the meeting, various speakers made online presentations and showcased their projects and organizations as examples of good practices for green investments from different perspectives.

The director of the Christo and Jean Claude Center presented a demonstration project that aimed to revitalize an abandoned industrial complex in Gabrovo and transform it into a cultural, artistic, and educational center.

A representative from Magnet Bank, Hungary spoke about green investments from the bank's perspective as an investor and pointed out the pitfalls of the "green trend" that can quickly turn into greenwashing.

The representative of Business Park Sofia presented its idea and functioning as an area of modern thinking that adapts to the needs of business creative development.

The hosts of the meeting, Municipality of Gabrovo, had organized site visits to various locations that were important for the NONA project and the region. These locations included:

·        The Interactive Museum of Industry Gabrovo,

·        The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Center and riverside area along the Yantra River,

·        The Open Air Ethnographic Museum Etar.
